Information
Deworming of cats
Why
All kittens have worms, including yours. They get the worms from their mother. First through the uterus and later on through the milk. Unlike what a lot of people think, you mostly don’t see when a cat has worms, and they don’t have to get sick either. But these worms secrete larvae that can be dangerous for the public health. Especially kids can be very sensitive to these larvae. After research it became clear that there’s a relation between the larvae and asthma in kids. Kittens who have (or had) fleas, can also be infected with tapeworm.
How often
- At 3 weeks of age, then repeat every 2 weeks until 2 weeks after weaning.
- Then monthly until the age of six months.
- Every 3 months thereafter. If your cat hunts or eats fresh meat we advise to deworm your cat monthly.
