Vaccinations and Titration
Vaccination is a highly effective and safe method for preventing disease outbreaks. Therefore, we strongly advocate for vaccination! Especially in a large city like Amsterdam where we live in close proximity to each other and there is a lot of importation of dogs and cats from abroad. Unfortunately, the vaccination rate of the dog and cat population is decreasing, increasing the risk of contagious diseases. If you would like to know whether the vaccination has provided a good immune response or which vaccination is needed, you can also opt for titration.
We vaccinate dogs annually against Leptospirosis and Infectious Canine Cough. Every 3 years, we administer a vaccination against Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, and Infectious Hepatitis. Rabies vaccination is only necessary when traveling abroad with your dog or cat.
In our clinic, you can also undergo titration with the Rapid titration test for Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, and Infectious Hepatitis, as well as Feline Panleukopenia. This is a great way to determine if an animal still has sufficient protection or requires vaccination, and also to see if the animal has produced enough antibodies after vaccination. We take a small blood sample for this test and results can be read after 10 minutes. For more information, please read our article on titration.
